Many years ago while learning to teach this advanced asana a horrific scene happened in front of my eyes. All of the trainees were lined up against the back wall of our studio preparing to go into headstand. We positioned ourselves and began to lift ourselves up into this dynamic pose. Then POP the woman two students down from me kicked up, and began to roll forward, and got her head trapped between the wall and other students. All the pressure went to her neck and she was seriously injured.
I have NEVER taught headstand against a wall again. In this tutorial, we go over how to safely roll out of headstand and lift yourself into it. Do this pose with great respect and take it slow. It is best if done with an experienced teacher by your side.
